Content Creation: Why it’s Important and Necessary

Imagine Facebook with all its members but not a single post.  Pretty boring, right?  The same is true for any site.  YouTube without any videos, Instagram without a single picture, Twitter without its tweets.  Without content, sites are nothing but a blank piece of paper, and that’ll hold a new user’s interest for all of four seconds.  If you want to have a successful site, you need content, and more than likely that means you’ve got a lot of work ahead of you.

One of the best ways to create content for your site, whatever site you might have, is blogs.  No matter what type of site you’re running, it’s always good to communicate with your base.  Blogs are a great way to do that.  For starters, you can communicate to everyone at once, without the need to send mass emails, which, let’s be honest, most people tend to just trash anyway.

Another benefit of writing a blog is that search engines frequently pick up key words and phrases which will help to categorize your site better.  In other words, keep your blog on topic with your site.  If your site is about cars, write about cars.  Also, and this is important, don’t plagiarize or just for the sake of writing.  Trust me, as someone that worked as a web evaluator for search engines I know that if your writing is horrible gibberish or just copied and pasted, you’re going to be even lower in the rankings of search engines.

Another good way of keeping content on your site is to be active on your site.  Such a surprise, right?  You, as the first member, need to care.  Even if nobody else is there, it’s your job to make a following, to make a community, and keep it active.  It won’t be immediate.  People will come and go, but you’ll have to stick with it.

If your site is focusing on community then you need to be the center of it at the start.  If its focus is support, you’re going to have to do a lot of the answering.  If you’ve got the money for it, you can actually pay people to write blogs or create content for your site.  In fact, a lot of people do that these days and to tell the truth, it works.  Either way though, content is a must to keep people interested, entertained, and posting themselves.

Whatever your site is about, make sure you’re passionate and knowledgeable about it.  Love your site and others will come to love it, too.
